About Dickson Productions
In its beginnings over 20 years ago, Dickson Productions formed as the start up business of college student John Dickson, who had earned quite a local standing for area event promotions as well as the successful launch of National College Ski Week. In the early era of organized student group travel, Dickson recognized a need to provide a higher level of customer service, professionalism, and quality at an affordable price. It was these core values that would carry the companyto success, and to show his personal commitment level, Dickson willingly put his name on the line.
From the start, Dickson’s events were infused with a passion and appreciation for good music, consistently showcasing up and comer talents as well as established and legendary performers. An early supporter of the renegade spirit returning to the spotlight, his ‘Outlaw Thursday’ series in the mid-90’s paired acts such as Jack Ingram, Kelly Willis, and Charlie Robison with worldwide talents like Chris LeDoux, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson. He employed his growing expertise to produce anarray of unique and successful events, from concert series, floating trips, Spring Break excursions, and of course the National College Ski Week which eventually planted roots in Steamboat Springs, CO.
10 years ago, an increasing number of concerts were added to the ski week’s event schedule that featured “up and comers” like Dub Miller, Roger Creager, Pat Green, Cory Morrow, and others. As the renaissance music revolution boomed out of the Southwest region and spread like wildfire, so was the natural progression of the ski week’s festivities.
The ski week morphed into a jam packed festival of one of a kind concerts called MusicFest, which continues to be THE annual pilgrimage for the scene’s top acts and dedicated music aficionados.
A highly qualified staff of coordinators, combined with proven expertise in specialized marketing, Dickson Productions’ turnkey promotion and production team produces over 100 events per year, as well as being integral in marketing and advertising for major record label promotions, travel marketing, event consulting, and more. Dickson Productions has worked with an array of esteemed national touring acts (list at right).
Continuing in its mission to provide the best music and travel experiences, Dickson Productions is the team behind popular annual events including The MusicFest, The Big Music Cruise, For the Sake of the Song Festival, The Ag Kickoff, Rock The Arena, Ski Jam, Rock The River, and many more. As the leader in specialized music and travel events, with Dickson Productions, you’ll undoubtedly tell your friends back home “You had to be there.”
